What do I need to know before I uninstall?
- Charges stop on cancel or uninstall. That is Shopify's behaviour. Billing stops in Shopify, not in Actorly, and Actorly's entitlement is withdrawn at uninstall.
- Erasure is real deletion. Settings, Data and privacy says your entire history is removed: the store's own database, its records and its stored evidence. It is "Not marked as hidden or scheduled for cleanup."
- You have a window. "If you reinstall within those 48 hours, nothing is deleted and your history is still there."
- There is no export on uninstall. Between uninstall and the 48-hour request the data is still held, but Actorly does not offer a way to take it out after you have removed the app. Export first.

What happens after I uninstall?
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Right away | Shopify tells Actorly that the app was uninstalled, and Actorly's entitlement for your store is withdrawn. |
| 48 hours later | Shopify sends Actorly a store-erasure request. |
| Then | Actorly erases your store's history, its stored evidence and its account records, and lists the stored evidence again to confirm none is left. |
| If you reinstall inside the 48 hours | Nothing is deleted. A store that is installed is never erased. |
Shopify sets when it sends each privacy notice, and Actorly acts when the notice arrives. The only timings Actorly states are the 48 hours here and the 30 days Shopify allows for a customer data request.
How do I take my history with me first?
What is erased, and what about my customers' data?
The page "What Actorly stores" says Actorly records what changed in your store, when, and who changed it, and that your store's history lives in its own separate database: "No query can reach another store's data, because there is no shared table to reach across." When erasure runs, that database is removed with its records and stored evidence.
Actorly stores some personal details about customers when they appear in a change it records. When Shopify sends an erasure request for one customer, Actorly removes those details for that customer and for the orders the request names. Details on a draft order are erased when your store's data is erased. A customer's data request is different: you answer it.
What if I only want to change plan?
Moving from Actorly Restore to Actorly Watch is not an uninstall. It keeps the last 3 months (90 days) of history and removes older history after a notice. See Upgrade, downgrade or cancel Actorly.
If something goes wrong
- You uninstalled by mistake. Reinstall within the 48 hours and nothing is deleted. After the erasure has run, the history is gone.
- You reinstalled and your history is missing. If the reinstall was after the 48 hours, the erasure had already run, and Actorly starts recording from the new install. Do not expect earlier history.
- You want your data erased sooner. Write to the privacy address on the privacy policy and name your store.
A worked example
Sample: on Monday at noon you uninstall Actorly. Shopify tells Actorly at once. On Tuesday you change your mind and reinstall: your history is still there, because the deletion request has not arrived. Had you waited past Wednesday at noon, Shopify's store-erasure request would have arrived, and Actorly would have erased the history, the saved evidence and the account records. Your Shopify invoice stops charging when you uninstall.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data deleted when I uninstall?
Yes. Shopify sends Actorly a deletion request 48 hours after the uninstall, and Actorly then removes your store's history, saved evidence and account records.
I reinstalled. Is my history still there?
If you reinstall within 48 hours of uninstalling, nothing is deleted.
Does Actorly delete my history if I downgrade?
History older than 3 months (90 days) is removed after a notice when a store moves from Actorly Restore to Actorly Watch. Actorly warns you first.
Can I export my history after I uninstall?
No. Export is a feature inside Actorly, and there is no export on uninstall. Export before you uninstall.
Will I still be charged after I uninstall?
Charges stop on cancel or uninstall. That is Shopify's behaviour, and billing stops in Shopify.
Can I ask for my data to be deleted sooner?
Write to the privacy address on the privacy policy and name your store.
