How do I see which changes were missed?

The reasons are written in plain words: "Actorly could not record this kind of change yet", "Actorly temporarily lost access to your store", "This changed on something Actorly had no earlier record of, so there was nothing to compare it against", "This was created and removed before Actorly could read it, so there was nothing to restore", and "No reason was recorded".
The statement says "N changes happened in your store and Actorly could not record a before and after for them. Everything else Actorly recorded is still in your history. This list is permanent, and Actorly never fills it in with a guess."
What does the banner look like over time?
A gap is one or more Shopify notifications Actorly received and could not write to your history. Fresh, it cannot be dismissed. Once the newest one has settled, it becomes a calm line that you can dismiss, and a small marker, "N changes not recorded", stays beside the status badge. A dismissal remembers the gaps it showed: a new or later gap brings the banner back. The notification follows the same course: it is a warning at first and settles to information.
What does it mean for my history?
| Question | The answer |
|---|---|
| Is the rest of my history affected? | No. "Everything else Actorly recorded is still in your history." |
| Can the missing changes be recovered? | No. "They cannot be recovered." |
| Does Actorly guess what they were? | No. "This list is permanent, and Actorly never fills it in with a guess." |
| Is there something for me to fix? | The app says no: "It cannot be recovered and there is nothing for you to fix." If a reason says Actorly lost access to your store, tell support. |
What can I do?
You can check the named kinds of record directly in your Shopify admin, because the missing before and after values are not in Actorly. If a gap names a kind you rely on, tell support the record type and the "Most recent" time.
Where else does this show?
- Overview, Needs your attention. A gap alone adds no row there, and the card is hidden rather than showing "All clear", because that would be false.
- Notifications. "N changes could not be added to your history". View takes you to Overview, where the gap details open.
- A missing permission. This is a separate banner headed "Some changes are not being recorded". If a kind needs a permission the store has not granted, the coverage window shows "Not recording on this store" and that banner appears. Unlike a gap, you can act on it: merges are recorded once the store grants the permission. Today that is customer merges: "Customer merges are not being recorded on this store, because Actorly has no record that it holds the customer merge permission."
A worked example
Sample: Overview shows a blue banner "3 changes could not be added to your history". You choose View details. The table says Inventory, Changes 2, Most recent a given time, and Themes, Changes 1. The statement says everything else is still in your history. You open the inventory page of the Shopify admin for the two items and check their current quantities there. You do not look for a fix in Actorly, because there is none. Next week a dismissed marker "3 changes not recorded" is still beside the badge; a new gap would bring the banner back.
Frequently asked questions
Does this mean Actorly is broken?
No. It means some changes could not be recorded, and Actorly tells you which kinds and why. The rest of the history is intact.
Can I get the missing changes back?
No. They cannot be recovered.
Will Actorly fill the list in later?
No. The list is permanent, and Actorly never fills it in with a guess.
What should I tell support?
The record types and the Most recent time from View details.
Why did the banner go away but a marker stays?
A gap that has settled can be dismissed. A small marker "N changes not recorded" stays beside the status badge, because the gap is permanent.
